What an incredibly productive experience: collaborating with the Procurement Excellence leadership team at Vattenfall to shape a strategic roadmap for the future ???? !
We embarked on a three-step journey to develop a robust strategy that includes a clear vision, actionable fields, concrete measures, principles of work (values), a compelling purpose and measurable evaluation criteria. And all that in just three lunch-to-lunch workshops in the vibrant cities of Berlin and Amsterdam, providing the perfect settings for innovative thinking and deep collaboration.
In Berlin, we identified action fields through looking at stakeholder expectations and future challenges and derived four options for strategic positioning of the Vattenfall FPE team. Amsterdam saw us discussing the resonances from several soundings with stakeholders, deciding on an operational excellence option and prototyping purpose, vision goals for the action fields and specific measures to reach them. The third step in Berlin saw us refining the vision, killing darlings to arrive at a very clear, lean and ambitious strategy with a clear purpose, and core values that would drive strategic initiatives forward, ensuring that every team member is aligned and motivated.
A few key takeaways from this transformative process:
- A strong and clear vision is the cornerstone of any successful strategy.
- Actionable fields and measures provide the roadmap to achieve your goals.
- Core values are helpful guidelines in decision-making.
- Purpose-driven work ensures alignment within teams and interactions with stakeholders.
A big thank you to everyone involved for their dedication and insights, especially Sven Jacobs for making this collaboration possible. It’s been a pleasure to witness the team’s growth and the solid strategic framework we’ve built together Mariana Dahlstein, Katarina Habanova, Arjan de Jong, Martin Heesch, James Knight, Mikael Eriksson & Andreas Mörtberg.
